Dear Mr TK Arun,

I absolutely agree with your viewpoint. Placement of our relative power in the international system, a multipolar world favours India to endorse & support Russia's stand on Ukraine, as an emerging great power, and one that cannot be ignored by the U.S. & China. To gain advantage in a multiplex world, India's cooperation with Russia can be seen as mutually productive & enduring. On the other hand, allowing Russia to become stronger reduces China's hegemony globally.

In light of the recent realities, China's efforts to encircle India, joining hands with our neighbours threatening India's territorial integrity, our security relations with China remain fraught till date. Knowing that China remains India's biggest challenge & opportunity, in 2022 and its growing assertiveness in the multipolar world, India must restore a fair degree of equilibrium to the power balance between rivals and others - Explained through Crimea, Cuba, Venezuela & launch of Russian spacecraft examples & of course NATO's role.

Perfectly enumerated by you in the conclusion, India would do well not to lose this opportunity for rebalancing its relations in the multipolar world, shaping it with a long-term objective and vision in mind, manifesting its aspirations adequately, & carefully calibrating its actions towards Russia, the U.S. & China.

Insightful opinion suggesting containment of power for India in the multipolar world. Thank you.

Best regards,

Vandana
