Huawei is a Chinese company, and could use its technological prowess to snoop on India, create dependence on itself and then use the possibility of withholding tech as leverage. India needs its own technological capability that no outside power can withhold or misuse against India.
Very nice, but analysis begs the question, why not promote Huawei in India.. Why tail the US, or Apple in recent budget.

India is capable to making potato chips . German are capable in hardware and Japan in electronic.
Chips competition all over the world but China and USA are the main competitors and make sanctions and create their monopoly.
In conclusion, yes, India can make chips and has potential for great brain and R&D .
Many car companies were handicapped without the microchip in the past because of short supply.
Now the time for India to make the chip much better then Huawei and USA.
